You Bet!. The Checker TVHD had standard video outputs. Both RS170 and S-Video. You can drive any television with them.

You can only drive a HDTV in HD via the component inputs. (Y Yb Yr ) There is just no other way to do it. This is due to the fact
that the scan rates for HD start at 31.5Khz and go up from there. The s-video and standard video inputs are designed for only 15.75
KHz.

Cost and ease of use are the main reasons. Plus, you actually only need cross hatch in those modes. Since the component outputs
function in all modes, you can check the color in the "480i" modes. The HD set will operate in the 480i mode, allowing the colorbars, gray scale
and full field colors to be displayed. In the high definition modes, you only need the cross hatch. You can check the convergence and
and raster centering . The cross hatch pattern has centering marks.

You can drive the HD set with the component outputs in the "480i" mode. To check the gray scale, we recommend that you connect only the Y signal.
This will force the set into a monochrome mode. Keep in mind that you may have to connect the Yr cable to the HD set. While you do not
need to connect it to the Checker TVHD, the set may only switch to the HD mode if there is a connector in the Yr jack. (there is a
switch in the connector that tells the set that "Component Video" is being used)

The Checker TVHD used "Tri-Mode" sync in the HD modes. This may be switched to "Bi-Mode" if needed. (see the instructions for details)

In the world of HDTV, there is so simple way to get the HD signal into a format that is
compatible with HD tuners. Remember, there
is NO WAY to drive a set into the HD mode via the RF tuners in sets today. Soon there will be some sets with HD tuners, but the UHF digital
, MPEG2 data stream required is going to be costly to implement. The component inputs are an excellent alternative.
